Typische PPFD- en DLI-waarden per gewas
Planten absorberen straling vooral in het 400-700 nm zichtbare bereik en zetten CO₂-inname en water om in zuurstof en glucose.
De mate van absorptie in elke golflengte hangt af van de celstructuur van de plant en kan van soort tot soort enigszins variëren.
Nog een belangrijke parameter is de Daily Light Integral, gedefinieerd als het totale aantal fotonen dat in een dag op een vierkante meter landt.
DLI wordt gemeten in de eenheid mol/m².d en elke plant heeft een specifieke DLI nodig om te groeien.
Waarden variërend tussen 6-18 mol/m²/d komen veel voor afhankelijk van de plant in kwestie.
Er is een verband tussen PPFD en DLI volgens de formule:
DLI=PPFD x lichturen per dag x (3600/1.000.000).
Uit deze formule wordt duidelijk dat er een wisselwerking is tussen PPFD en het aantal benodigde lichturen om een bepaalde DLI-waarde te bereiken.
Als er een bepaalde hoeveelheid natuurlijk licht beschikbaar is voor een kas, moet deze worden afgetrokken van de oorspronkelijke DLI-waarde om de juiste berekeningen te maken voor kunstlicht.
Rekening houdend met de DLI, PPFD en het aantal lichturen per dag, kunt u het totaal aantal benodigde armaturen berekenen dat nodig is om de gewassen in een kas te belichten.
