PSKW - Advancing Agricultural Research with MechaTronix Growlights
The Research Station for Vegetable Production (PSKW), established in 1963, has been a leading player in agricultural research for over six decades. As a non-governmental and non-profit organization, PSKW has a mission to bridge the gap between university-led scientific research and the practical needs of vegetable growers. Their work focuses on the cultivation of both greenhouse and open-field vegetables, ensuring that growers have access to the latest advancements in horticultural technology.
In 2022, PSKW took a significant step forward by installing their first MechaTronix growlights. These growlights are now being used for research into lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, helping PSKW to explore and test new growing techniques. The data gathered from these studies is crucial for developing best practices that can be implemented by growers in real-world conditions.
What sets PSKW apart is their commitment to sharing knowledge. Their research is not confined to the lab—PSKW actively disseminates their findings through a variety of channels. This includes organizing open days where growers can witness firsthand the benefits of new technologies, publishing findings in horticultural magazines such as "Proeftuinnieuws" and "Management en Techniek," and hosting study evenings for Growers Associations. This extensive outreach ensures that growers are not only informed but empowered to implement best practices that lead to improved crop yields and sustainability.
Moreover, PSKW works closely with advisory services, technical committees, and working groups across the supply chain. As a proud member of EUVRIN (European Vegetable Research Institute Network), they are also involved in international projects aimed at making cutting-edge research accessible to growers around the world.
Through their collaboration with innovative companies like MechaTronix, PSKW continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring that the agricultural sector remains at the forefront of innovation, helping growers to stay competitive and sustainable in an ever-evolving market.
