Sonsation strawberry trial shows great results – Delphy soft fruit conference
From September 2nd 2018 the HAS University of Applied Science in the Netherlands was the scene for an innovative plant trial on Sonsation strawberries.
January 11th 2019 the trial was finalized and concluded with a visit of the ISFC International Soft Fruit Conference led by Delphy.
An early start and a busy day… 190 visitors all in some way related to strawberry cultivation visited the HAS greenhouses at 7.30AM to witness the outcome of the strawberry trial under various lighting techniques.
In the plant trial two light techniques where compared to each other.
At one side the Sonsation strawberries were placed under HPS SON-T lamps at a light level of 200umol/sm², on the other side the same light level but created with the CoolStack® LED technology
The visitors where guided in 3 groups over the 3 various themes
- an introduction to the HAS University of Applied Science and their contributions in plant research by the HAS director Toine Hattink
- the details on the plant trial, insight in the evolution and the final harvest results by the grow team under the lead of Tamara Verhoeven, Manon van Weenen, Teun
van Lent, Floor Oomen, Dirk van Tienen and Steven Oosterloo from Flevoberry
