Sustainable Year-Round Tomato Production with a hybrid growlight set up
In 2020, Les Serres D'Isigny began its journey into large-scale tomato production in Serres-le-Buat, Normandy, France. This ambitious project involved the construction of a cutting-edge greenhouse, covering more than 80,000 square meters, along with a business area for processing. This was completed in partnership with Havecon. With over 8 hectares of cultivation space, Les Serres D'Isigny was set to produce tomatoes year-round, recognizing the growing opportunities in the local French market.
To ensure sustainable production throughout the year, Les Serres D'Isigny implemented a hybrid lighting system in their greenhouse. This innovative system combines the energy efficiency of LED grow lights with the powerful light output of SON-T lighting. By utilizing both technologies, they were able to maintain ideal lighting conditions, even during the darker winter months, while keeping energy consumption at an optimal level.
The combination of LED and SON-T lighting allowed Les Serres D'Isigny to sustainably produce tomatoes year-round, meeting the rising demand for fresh, high-quality produce in the local market.
