In Belgium, Kwekerij Van Dingenen has made significant advancements in strawberry cultivation thanks to the implementation of LED lighting in their greenhouse in Merksplas. Equipped with Mecha-Tronix LED fixtures and technical installation by Bosman Van Zaal, the nursery can now produce strawberries year-round, including during the darker Easter period. This advanced technology extends the growing season, allowing faster harvests and ensuring that their strawberries meet the strict "GOLD" quality standards set by the Coöperatie Hoogstraten.

Benefits of LED Lighting:

• Year-Round Production: Strawberries are cultivated continuously, even during the winter months. The LED lighting extends the day to 12 hours, preventing the plants from going into winter dormancy and allowing for continuous harvesting.
• Dimmable Lighting: The dimming feature of the LED lamps ensures optimal light output during different growth stages, helping save energy and adjust the light according to the plant's needs.
• Safety: To prevent power spikes, the system is equipped with a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) that automatically shuts off the lights in case of a power failure, preventing voltage fluctuations.
