Sustainable Strawberry cultivation with MechaTronix LED Grow Lights

In 2011, Rob van Enckevort took over a well-established agricultural business in America (NL), De Peelkroon.

With 5.3 hectares of production spread across three locations in America and Kronenberg, the farm is known for its use of the Elsanta strawberry variety, recognized for its high productivity and delicious flavor.

Since 2020, De Peelkroon has been using MechaTronix LED grow lights to optimize its production. This technology allows them to meet their sustainability goals.

Sustainability at the Core

Rob’s philosophy centers around producing strawberries in the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way possible. The farm carefully conserves water, limits the use of raw materials, and optimizes plant nutrition and their efforts include working with natural enemies to control pests—utilizing the "bugs versus bugs" method to reduce the need for chemicals.
Their annual yield ranges between 300,000 and 320,000 kilograms of strawberries.

De Peelkroon is also part of Kompany, a cooperative based in Venlo, which connects cucumber and strawberry growers. Since 2016, this partnership has opened access to markets in the Netherlands, Germany, England, and Scandinavia, allowing them to reach a wider audience with their sustainable, high-quality produce.
