“This summer, the entire Bredefleur operation will be under full LED,” says Peter Evers with a smile. Together with his brothers Thomas, Levi, and Ruben, he forms the management of the family business Bredefleur, specialized in lily cultivation. And they do it with passion – and a clear vision for the future.

Pioneer in LED Lighting

“We've been working with LED for over five years,” Peter explains. “We started on a small scale, and gradually expanded. And to be honest: we’ve learned a lot along the way.” That learning curve had its challenges. LED requires a different approach than the traditional SON-T lamps, with risks like leaf burn due to the higher light intensity. But through research, experience, and adjustments to their growing recipes, the Bredefleur team now knows exactly how to guide their plants optimally.

The switch to the latest four-channel LED fixtures from MechaTronix is not a leap into the unknown for Bredefleur, but a well-considered next step. “From a cost perspective, it’s a no-brainer,” says Peter pragmatically. “The efficiency of LED is nearly twice that of SON-T. And with current energy prices, the gas savings are significant. As an entrepreneur, it’s the logical choice.”

We want to stay flexible and adapt along the way,” Peter explains. “Just like with an iPhone: at some point, you’re close to the endgame.
